COVID-19 ALERT: Keep families together with pet food donations

Help us keep food pantries stocked with pet food so that people can keep their animals during this unprecedented crisis. Since CPAW NJ began in 2017, we have supported the Montclair Human Needs Food Pantry by donating both cat and dog food for its clients. HNFP has welcomed 858 new families since the start of 2020. Now more than ever, people are desperate for help. Being able to feed their pets is a lifeline for families with four-footed members.

There is no end in sight to COVID-19, but we can provide relief. By working with local pet supply stores, we CAN keep families together.

We have established a separate fund that will be used solely for donations to help families feed their companion animals. These animals can't survive on their own and need our help. By providing food for these pets, we prevent surrenders - meaning fewer animals will land in shelters or on the streets in your neighborhood.

As a leader in animal welfare in our community, we worked with our national partners at the beginning of the pandemic to get grants. A $2,000 grant from Alley Cat Allies funded a food drive for local community cat colony caregivers. Then, we matched that with another $2000, mainly for distribution at the Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair and Park Place Methodist Church of Bloomfield. We continue to work with local pet supply stores to buy food at bulk prices and provide for needy families. Thank you to Brookdale Pet Center, PetValu, and Corrado's, who have been essential in coordinating and providing this service to our community.
